Brady and I decided to take a last minute trip to Tillamook, Oregon to ring in the New year and celebrate Brady’s birthday. We got lucky and happened to find the perfect, pet friendly Air B&B in Netarts, Oregon. We started the trip out at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area. The weather forecast predicted rain for pretty much the entire time we were there so we tried to plan this hike when it wasn’t going to rain. Turns out, this was pretty much the only time it did rain ha. I wish we had some more time to explore Cap Kiwanda but we didn’t want to keep the babies out in the rain.
McPhillips Beach is just north of Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area and you can drive on the beach for another view of Cape Kiwanda.
After changing into dry clothes we headed off to the Tillamook Creamery. Archie was so excited to get ice cream. The creamery has a little self guided tour where you get to see how cheese is made and get free samples. Archie’s favorite part was the ice cream.
We rang in the new year by watching TV with a random charcuterie board and going to bed 😂
Brady’s Birthday is January 1st so the day was all about celebrating him. The cool thing about Tillamook is that the beach is right there but so are some mountains! We took the jeep on some trails. We didn’t make it every far on the first trail we tried to go on because multiple trees had fallen down across the trial. Luckily we were able to get onto the trail a little further up. It was so foggy, icy and beautiful there.
We ended the day by watching the sunset at Tunnel Beach. The sunset was amazing! The tunnel was dark, cold and slippery 😂. Apparently this beach is a great place to find agate. A local gave Archie a piece of agate she found and showed him how the agate lights up when you put it next to a flashlight.
We ended our trip by checking out the Cape Meares light house and octopus tree. It was such a fun trip and the perfect way to end 2022 and start 2023.
The Oregon coast is magical! Here’s to hoping 2023 is just as magical.
